Looking for a club to play hockey in 2017?

For the 2016 season Baulkham Hills merged with Castle Hill Strikers and Northern Districts to form Hills Strikers. This merger was to grow hockey in the Hills District. Hills Strikers entered teams in the Sydney Women's Hockey League from ML2 to ML6. (5 teams in all.) and 2 teams in the NWS turf competition . This was formerly the Ryde turf competition.

As well as these turf teams, there were also teams playing in the NWSHA, Parramatta, under Baulkham Hills as well as Castle Hill Strikers. A decision has not yet been made in regard to merging our grass teams for 2017 but there will still be grass teams for Baulkham Hills members.

We are also happy to welcome players of all ages and levels at any time throughout the year. With the various levels of team gradings, there is sure to be a spot for everyone.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) have introduced changes to the Rules of Hockey designed to enhance the experience of players and spectators. These changes have been available for worldwide adoption and were effective at international level from 1st January 2015.

Changes include the ability to take attacking free hits within 5 metres of the edge of the circle and the re-start of play after the ball has unintentionally been played over the back-line by a defender.

Congratulations to Lyndel Francis

One of our life members, Lyndel Francis, was selected in the NSW over 60's team for 2016.

The NSW team competed in the tournament in Hobart over 10 days. After playing 7 games against the other states they remained undefeated. In the gold medal match against WA, WA scored first in the second quarter of the first half and NSW equalised in the third quarter. The winning goal came in the last 2 minutes of the match.

A huge congratulations to Lyndel and a job well done to the team.
